Michael McEwen has been tapped to lead the Academic division of B&H Books, an arm of Lifeway, one of the nation’s largest evangelical publishers. McEwen will take over for Madison Trammel, who left B&H in February to head up Penguin Random House’s new Christian Publishing Group.
McEwen will leave his former role at acquisitions and project editor at B&H Academic, where his most recent moves include the acquisition of New Studies in Biblical Theology, an influential evangelical series, for North American copublishing alongside British imprint Apollos. Prior to Lifeway, McEwen wrote for Southern Baptist outlets and taught at several colleges, including the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he received a PhD in 2018.
Affiliated with the Southern Baptist Church, B&H Academic publishes titles on scripture and the modern world that are marketed toward theology students and church leaders. B&H Publisher Devin Maddox lauded McEwen’s commitment to Lifeway’s Baptist alignment, as well as its mission to “[steward] an important role in broader evangelicalism.”
