NetGalley and Rakuten Kobo Team Up
Digital galley distributor NetGalley and Canadian digital reading retailer Rakuten Kobo have announced a new partnership to develop an integrated Kobo reading option connected to the NetGalley platform.
Starting on April 30, NetGalley clients will have the option to bulk-enable a “Send to Kobo” reading option for their digital review copies in advance of a late May launch to NetGalley members. Once live, the Kobo integration will allow NetGalley members to send NetGalley e-pub files to their Kobo e-readers or the Kobo app. PDF support is expected to roll out later this year.
The move follows NetGalley’s launch of its new proprietary in-browser reader in January 2025. The “Send to Kobo” reading option will be made available to NetGalley members beginning in May 2025 in the United States, Australia, Canada, France, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. The Kobo reading option will also be introduced in Japan once PDF support is made available.
